10 Year Old Boy Calls Police on Father Driving Drunk

Aug, 10 2013

Last week a ten year old Rhode Island boy called the police to notify them that his father was driving drunk on Interstate 95. The boy and his sister were passengers in the car at the time the 911 call was made, and were frightened by their father’s erratic driving. The car continued on I-95, crossing into Connecticut, where, after causing an accident, Connecticut police arrested the drunken father who was at the wheel. The Warwick, RI man has been charged with multiple crimes, including endangering a minor and second-degree assault.

As a result of situations like this one, and the increase in adults driving under the influence with children in their car, the Rhode Island State Police have been urging Rhode Island politicians to make driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle a felony offense.
